More than an app for thoughts.
Keep what matters in sight: with visible connections between notes, images, documents and your knowledge. And with your own AI at your side when you want help with the wording.

As visual as your thinking.
If colours and images help you find your way back, a note may be more than black text on a white background.
Give colour a purpose.
Tell life areas and folders apart by colour. Coloured headings, text colours, highlights and knowledge blocks bring key thoughts forward. In the Colour Lab you shift the hues of H1, H2 and H3 together.
Text beside images.
Place an image on the left or right and the text flows beside it. Centre headings, paragraphs and single images with ⌘⇧E or a right-click. In a narrow window the image moves back to full width.
Your background. Your working space.
Paper, Dark Paper, Dark Mode or Follow Mac, plus your own background, text and accent colours with a live preview and contrast hints.
Some connections need more room.
On boards you connect shapes, text and note sources with lines or arrows. The reference view opens a linked note beside the board.
A daily note that fits you.
Enable My Day to create a daily note. Choose a neutral template, write your own or take an independent copy from an existing note.
The template belongs to the vault and applies to future daily notes. Existing notes stay unchanged.
Select. Choose. Apply.
The AI window floats above your note and stays open until you close it. You select a paragraph, choose an action and see the draft above your original. What you like, you apply with one click. Open it with the symbol in the toolbar, with ⌘⇧K or with a right-click.
Five actions and one of your own.
Rephrase, shorten, expand, spelling and grammar, summarise. Or write in a line or two what you want: friendlier, more formal, as a list. The instruction stays, even for the next paragraph.
You decide. Always.
Every change appears as a draft first, with the original below. Apply, discard, try again or insert as new text. ⌘Z takes back an applied change in one step.
Bold, italics and colours of unchanged words are kept.
Your plan. Your program.
ZimeZumi uses Claude Code or Codex when one of them is installed and signed in on your Mac, and finds it on its own. No API key, no account with us. Usage counts towards your Claude or ChatGPT plan.
Claude Code belongs to Anthropic, Codex to OpenAI. ZimeZumi is an independent app and not affiliated with either.
Only the selected text.
Your AI program receives the selected text and your instruction, nothing else: no note title, no other notes, no vault. The program runs without tools and without access to your files. It can only return text.
The text goes to Anthropic or OpenAI through your account, and their terms apply. More in the privacy notice.
New in ZimeZumi 4.7. Mac only. After the 14-day trial the AI feature needs a licence.
The file is there. So is its context.
An image explains the idea. A PDF holds the passage. A document belongs to the project. ZimeZumi brings those connections into your notes.
A Finder link takes you to the original.
Reference local files in a note and reveal them in Finder. That takes you from the thought to the original without digging through an attachments folder.
Media libraries without rearranging your files.
Connect existing local folders as media libraries. Images, PDFs and documents stay where they are and appear in the note as a preview or a reference.
The source folder has to stay reachable. Moved or deleted originals can go missing.
See images as a gallery.
Group several images in a gallery with four, five or six columns: a visible collection right where you describe the idea.
Keep the PDF passage that matters.
Mark a region in an embedded PDF, name the passage and link it. The link takes you back to the marked spot, not just to the start of the document.
The markers live in the note. The original PDF stays unchanged.
Markdown stays Markdown.
A .md file from your vault, a media library or any other folder becomes a Markdown block: linked to the original, searchable, shown as source or as a reading view. If the file has changed, the block tells you, and one click brings in the new version.
When you drop a file, ZimeZumi asks whether you want a block or regular note text. In Settings you decide whether it asks every time.
Just take a look.
Double-click a .md file in a media library to open it in the quick view: readable, no import, no new note.
Build knowledge without starting over.
Bring in what exists. Capture new thoughts. Find things again later and pass them on.
Your existing knowledge can come too.
Import Markdown, Obsidian vaults with folders and attachments, static HTML, and text, spreadsheet and office documents. Source files are only read.
Capture first. Organise later.
The INBOX takes new thoughts as well as photos, links and other attachments you send to ZimeZumi through the share menu on iPhone and iPad or through browser capture on the Mac. Life areas, folders, tags and pins add structure later; search, dashboard and backlinks pick the thread back up.
Give attachments a place too.
Newly saved attachments are filed by type. Vault Guard checks for missing references and possibly unused attachments. You review the suggestions before anything is tidied away.
Share a note with its context.
PDF as a reading version, Markdown for further work, or portable HTML that bundles images, galleries and reachable attachments into a single file.
External web content is not downloaded automatically and other notes are not included recursively. Check the export file before sharing it.
Knowledge you can keep working with.
Open files and, if you want them, tools you choose yourself.
Your own vault. No mandatory cloud.
Your notes are standalone HTML files in a folder you choose. Local use needs no account. Locally available content works offline.
A backup and a Markdown copy.
Back up the whole vault as a complete HTML ZIP, or export a portable Markdown copy with folder structure, attachments and adjusted internal links.
Colours and interactive PDF markers survive in full only in the HTML backup. Back up originals of external media libraries and Finder links separately. Automatic backups are not promised.
MCP lets your AI build on existing knowledge.
Through the local MCP server a compatible AI client can search the selected vault, read notes and work with the tools you release to it, for example drafting text from your stored notes without gathering everything again. New in 4.7: if it asks, it gets only the matching sections instead of whole notes. That saves text and hits the mark more precisely.
The client is configured separately and nothing is released by default. With a cloud model, requested content may be sent to that provider. A local MCP server does not make the AI model local. Archive folders stay out of it unless the client explicitly asks for them.
Your note stays where you need it.
Put a note on the desktop and it sits as its own small window next to your work. With the pin it stays in front, whatever app you are using. The shopping list next to the browser, the day plan next to the project, the idea from a minute ago next to the mail.
One click in the note.
The monitor symbol in the meta line puts the note on the desktop. It stays there as long as ZimeZumi runs in the background, even with the main window closed.
Normal or always in front.
As a normal window it can be covered like any other. With the pin it stays in front, whatever you have open.
Full editor, small footprint.
A desktop note is not a preview, it is the same note with the same editor. What you write there appears in the main window at once, and the other way round.
As many as you like.
Several notes at the same time, each with its own position. On the next start they are back where you left them.
Mac only.
Your vault comes with you. Not every Mac feature.
Mac, iPhone and iPad share the same vault and differ in scope. Full board editing, the Colour Lab, Finder access, media libraries, the AI text actions and MCP belong to the Mac; on iPad you can edit supported boards with pen, shapes and text; on iPhone boards remain reading views.
Start with what helps you.
You do not have to use every feature. Getting started shows how a first note becomes a body of knowledge; the index shows everything that is in it.
ZimeZumi is a personal knowledge space, not a medical application. The ADHD experience shapes the design; no therapeutic benefit is claimed.
